With the theme of "A Meeting of the Minds, An Escape of the Senses", the 2014 NCPA Multiple Locations Pharmacy Conference was indeed just that. Many attendees and exhibitors had unusual difficulties in traveling from the Northeast and Southeast (due to the snow and ice) yet the conference had its usual 175 attendees.
This Multiple Locations Pharmacy Conference by NCPA rotates between a Caribbean location and US location every other year. 2014 was a Naples, FL location at the Waldorf Astoria with plans for a 2015 event in St. Kitts.
With the warmer weather in Naples, attendees were in high spirits and between attending the 11.75 hours of ACPE accredited CE many enjoyed golf, sailing and deep sea fishing with excellent evening events. Perhaps a highlight of the educational programming was a presentation on the Community Pharmacist's Practical Guide to the Star Rating System and Doug Hoey's (CEO of NCPA) legislative update regarding forthcoming changes impacting pharmacy ROI in the near term. The Good Neighbor Pharmacy NCPA Pruitt-Schutte Student Business Plan Competition presentation shared the results of the first national competition designed to motivate pharmacy students to create a business model for buying an existing pharmacy or developing a new pharmacy. This year's winner was from the University of Oklahoma.
NCPA CEO Doug Hoey and Almased US VP Mike Mader
NCPA represents the interest of America's community pharmacists, including the owners of more than 23,000 independent community pharmacies who dispense nearly 40% of all retail prescriptions and employ more than 300,000 individuals, including over 62,000 pharmacists.
See You in St. Kitts in 2015!
